Gideon's are made by me, Gideon, in Montreal's Chabanel Garment District.
Beyond the patterning, cutting, and sewing, a large part of the making involes
repairing and maintaining the twelve industrial sewing machines that are used for nearly each pair. These machines were made as early as the turn of the 20th century and have developed curious personalities over the course of their long lives.
cultivating a dynamic with each machine is essential in producing the best quality garment possible
Fabrics used range from found, vintage selvedge cottons to new reproduction wools. Fabrics are chosen for their inclination to change over time congruently with the user. The techniques and means of production are meant to encourage this inclination.
